About the Founder

Lissa has had longtime interest in plant medicines. With 25 years experience in healthcare, 15 of them as a pharmaceutical specialist, she respects the importance of evidence based medicine. And her years of training in yoga, reiki, and Ayurveda have confirmed the need for wholistic remedies and integrative practices as well. When Lissa took part in a spiritual retreat to Asia in 2016, she was introduced to the traditional plant therapeutics unique to Bhutan.

After several days of hiking, visiting historic sites and meeting Bhutan locals, Lissa fell in love with the culture. A visit to the indigenous hospital arranged through her guide walked her through the quality sourcing and processing practices for their native plant medicines. Already a curcumin enthusiast, she recognized a difference in color and vibrancy of their turmeric. The potency and purity were palpable. Lissa left Bhutan with some of the finished curcumin product, and the inspiration to form Bhutan Wild Organics.

Along with Bhutan Wild Organics, Lissa’s time is spent with her husband, 4 grown children and 6 grandkids, 3 dogs, gardening, and volunteer work for animal rescue.
